Grain Thief
Grain Thief
Grain Thief is a 5-piece americana string band from Boston MA. The group is Patrick Mulroy (guitar,
vocals), Zach Meyer (mandolin, vocals), Michael Harmon (bass, vocals), Tom Farrell (lead guitar), and Alex Barstow (fiddle). Their debut EP Animal was released in November of 2015, which showcases the band's roots in folk, bluegrass, and old time music.
The band’s first full-length record Stardust
Lodge was released in August 2018 and has been broadcast at radio stations from coast to coast. Mulroy's lyrical approach
to the album is met equally with songs of loss and regret, and the struggles of the everyday working man with a satirical twist. The arrangements and instrumentation represent a departure from Animal’s
bleak simplicity in search of something more complex, modern, and ,at times, psychedelic. In support of the record the
band toured the Southwest, Southeast, and Northeast US bringing their brand of country music to honky-tonks, festivals, and dive bars across the country.
Newcomers Club
Newcomers Club
Newcomers Club was founded by John Roach and Geoff Lynn. Raised outside of Boston on old folk music and Dad’s radio, they moved to New York to start a band. They performed as a duo for a year and a half, writing songs and working on harmonies. They’ve since been joined by Mike Gannon on lead guitar and vocals, Sam Bowers on vocals, Ronnie Lanzilotta on bass, and Mike Vecchione on drums – all powerful storytellers that help define Newcomers Club sound. They’re a powerhouse six piece with a focus on compelling vocal arrangements, who will bring you to tears with heartache harmonies and get you moving with rocking refrains. Newcomers Club draws from the old greats - Fleetwood Mac, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and Paul Simon to name a few - and blends their influences into a unique, contemporary sound. They are working on their debut album, set to be released in November 2018.
Caroline Kuhn
Caroline Kuhn
Caroline Kuhn’s earnest songwriting creates a unique union between folk and jazz with soaring melodies that are accompanied by rhythmic fingerpicking on the guitar and tenor banjo. With full band accompaniment, her music aims to create emotional moments that captivate listeners, inviting them into a soundscape that they may interpret as they please.
A recent graduate of The New England Conservatory of Music, Caroline spent the last four years completing her degree in contemporary improvisation. After spending time in Boston building upon her extensive experience singing harmony in a variety of styles (from medieval to jazz), she returned to her native New York City. Caroline began her career in NYC at the age of five, recording jingles and doing an assortment of voice-over and choral work. Outside of her solo project, Caroline is an active member of two bands, the country rock group Ruthless Moon and the folk group The Ladles.
Karl Lucas
Karl Lucas
Born and raised in North Carolina, Karl Lucas managed to live the first 25 years of his life without ever picking up a musical instrument, save for a brief stint with a recorder in the third grade. After quickly mastering Three Blind Mice, he put down that recorder along with any potential of melodic inspiration until about a decade and a half later. Living in a house full of friends and guitars, that mysterious wave of something washed over him and he picked one up (guitars, not friends), and started strumming. Picking soon followed, then words, full songs, a banjo along with a brief effort in a band, and now he writes songs for the dishonest mechanics and their sympathetic customers that won't come back... for the ones unfit for this part of the infinite, and those that know they just happen to be... for the disheveled, the clean cut, the driven and the tired... for the ones that know and the ones that don't and for the nameless something that contains us all...
