Dwight & Nicole
Dwight & Nicole
"Ritcher and Nelson met in Boston when they were just out of school, cutting their teeth on the local club circuit. They each fronted popular bands and discovered a shared love of soul & blues greats like Mavis Staples, Albert King, Lighting Hopkins, Jimmy Witherspoon and Roberta Flack & Etta James. The two began singing together often, and developed a close friendship which became romantic over time. Eventually, they formed the duo DWIGHT & NICOLE, and began touring regionally- gaining fans while developing their sound.

Following a move to Burlington, VT, they met their powerhouse drummer Ezra Oklan (Nicole Atkins, Elle King) and the group quickly became a trio. They have toured up and down the east coast, writing more songs and gaining plenty of industry respect, with nominations for nine Boston Music Awards, seven Boston Phoenix Awards, eight Daysie Awards, and nine New England Music Awards.

This is a refreshingly original, dynamic band. The sum being greater than its parts; seasoned players, stunning vocals, poignant songs that speak to our times. Definitely check out their new single “Wait”. Melissa Etheridge was recently quoted saying “The first time I heard the song “Wait” I thought... wow! I wish I had written that song”. All signs point to an exciting new era for Dwight & Nicole, who have just taken a leap from ‘best kept secret’ to ‘band to watch’.

Their new EP Electric Lights was recorded live to analog tape with multi-Grammy nominated producer Joel Hamilton (Aaron Neville, The Meters, The Black Keys) at Studio G in Brooklyn, NY. Hamilton has undoubtedly captured their sound and live energy. He also brings out their experimental side on Electric Lights. The EP has introduced them to a whole new wave of fans as well as opportunities. The band has just signed a booking deal with the TR Agency, and their first major label distribution deal through Orchard / Sony Music. The year wrapped up with an Independent Music Award nomination, and Electric Lights landing on several ‘Best of the Year’ lists. 2019 has already found them back at Studio G with Joel Hamilton, recording what will be the follow up to the EP that started this new era for them. Keep an eye on DWIGHT & NICOLE- and catch them live if you can. Follow the band on Instagram @dwightandnicole to track their recording process, and for a behind the scenes glimpse of them on tour.

“Give “Wait” a spin and, for at least three minutes and fifty seconds, all will be right with the world” ~ Dan Bolles, Seven Days

“Take R&B, soul, blues and jazz, mix in razor-sharp rock guitar... heat to boiling, and watch your face melt. That's Dwight & Nicole.” ~ Relix Magazine

“Dwight & Nicole are a tour-de-force that demand much wider success. Poignant, hard driving... and heavenly” ~ Steve Morse, Boston Globe"

"Ali McGuirk has made a career of captivating audiences with her powerful, buttery voice and heartfelt songwriting. Her earliest years as a performer were spent earning residencies across 4 continents, from Santorini to Hong Kong.

In 2016, she was recognized by the Boston Globe as an ""artist to hear,"" along with Lake Street Dive, Haim and other notable names. Shortly thereafter, she released her debut, self-titled EP and has been riding that momentum ever since.

In November 2017, she released her first full-length album, ""Slow Burn,"" which saw her working with an eclectic mix of artists, including Boston guitar legend Jeffrey Lockhart (Lettuce, D'angelo, Lalah Hathaway), Brandon Mayes (Kendrick Lamar, Soulja Boy), DeShawn D’Vibes Alexander (Marcus King, Eric Krasno) and Cilla Bonnie (Air Traffic Controller).

""Slow Burn"" was named on multiple year-end lists, including Boston rock critic Steve Morse's Top Ten Albums of 2017, and contributed to Ali’s current total of 7 Boston Music Award nominations and her 2018 New England Music Award nomination for R&B Act of the Year.

At the 2018 Boston Music Awards, Ali took home Blues Artist of the Year and Live Residency of the Year for her monthly First Fridays at Bull McCabe’s Pub.

When she isn't performing the music of Slow Burn or working on the next batch of material, you can find Ali as a featured guest in a range of projects, including folk rock group Session Americana and organ funk outfit Beau Sasser's Escape Plan.

""Ali McGuirk is incredible. Let her voice stir your soul."" Ryan Montbleau, Singer Songwriter
""A soul singer who evokes comparisons to Amy Winehouse but rocks even harder."" Steve Morse, The Boston Globe."
