The Marvells
The Marvells
It started with a boat and a dream. Drummer Pingo Estrella along with bandmates Pablo Macneilly and Jorge Jarron were headed to New York from Columbia SA to meet up with Johnny Appleweed and Roberto Brixton. They were starting a band in order to play their favorite club, Bowery Electric. Problem was they had no way to get across the Caribbean. Calling on a friend with a wood shop, the team constructed a very solid craft but after the band mates got into the boat with their luggage and provisions, they found that there was no room for the drum kit. Pingo Called Roberto Brixon his old Band Mate from the Mexican punk band “The Bad Hombres” who sent him designs for a “Tambor Barco”, they redesigned the craft and 6 weeks later arrived in NYC. The rest is history. Along with their latest addition, guitarist, Esteban, the band will dedicate it’s set on Dec 12 to the “Tambor Barco”, the ship that got them from Columbia to the Bowery!
Christina LaRocca
Christina LaRocca
" Soulful singer songwriter and international touring LA based artist brings a blend of Americana Rock and Soul to the table.

Soulful singer songwriter, Christina LaRocca, a member of the Recording Academy, switched coasts in 2014.  The now Los Angeles-based musician, found inspiration in her trek out west. The colors of an Arizona sunset, the glowing fields of Nebraska and sheer power of The Rocky Mountains reignited a spirit of living life can be held responsible for the artist’s organically rustic influences like Sheryl Crow, Janis Joplin, and more recently, Lana Del Rey, Bishop Briggs, and First Aid Kit.

Raised in an Italian family and a descendent of professional musicians, Christina grew up surrounded by musicianship and quickly developed her voice in the americana, soul and folk realms. Sunday was never a dull day in the LaRocca household, which was always full of music. LaRocca, a mover and shaker in the music business at-large, founded L Rock Entertainment, an entertainment promotion company, and has booked shows for more than 2K artists worldwide. She’s performed with the Café Wha Band, folk artist Ryan Martin and hip hop artists, The Higher Concept which lead her to meeting Josh Glazer of J Glaze Productions who recorded her 3rd studio record in 2011 ""I Stand Tall With My Eyes Wide Open.""

Jump ahead to 2017, 3 years after Christina settles in Los Angeles, she records ""Child of the Sun"" and ""I Am Only Human"" with LA producer Robb Torres. The 2 Single Digital Release goes live on Friday Nov 3. She brings in a twist of Americana and Rock to her already very soulful vibe. In Fall 2017 she headed out on a full tour of the west coast and rocky mountains to promote the upcoming release. Check out Christina's tour schedule to see where she plays next."
Christina LaRocca grew up under her mother's musical influence, hoping to one day to sing as beautifully as her. With the record player constantly spinning Stevie Wonder, Natalie Cole, and Aretha Franklin and it's easy to see where Christina got her soulful and smooth sound. After moving from Brooklyn to Staten Island, during her teen years Christina found herself listening to listening to female radio stars like No Doubt, TLC, Fiona Apple, Alanis Morsette, and Lauryn Hill. She started auditioning for plays and realizing theatre wasn't satisfying her musical impulse, she picked up a guitar and following her father's beatnik poetic ways, dug into the deep dark mass throbbing inside her heart and began writing her own music. By 2005 Christina had caught the ears of local musicians such as Carl Gallagher and Dorian Lake. After jamming at a hurricane Katrina fund-raiser, they decided to name their newly found project Heavy Weather.
