JSWISS
JSWISS
JSWISS stands out as a young, yet veteran and poised, adept lyricist who embodies the essence of hip hop with an infusion of soul. With projects like the Awthenticity LP (2013), ALLCAPSNOSPACES EP (2015) and the No Music EP (2016) earning acclaim from media outlets, radio DJs and fans in the U.S. and internationally, JSWISS has garnered hundreds of thousands of plays worldwide and performed hundreds of shows, often with a live band. With clever wordplay, positive messages and an infectious energy that drives an exciting live show, JSWISS appeals to hip hop purists and new hip hop audiences alike.

While carving out a sound notably different from his contemporaries, JSWISS is part of a growing movement of more musically involved hip hop along with the likes of Chance The Rapper and Kendrick Lamar. Fans of hip hop’s “Golden Age” in the 90s and artists like Talib Kweli, The Roots and A Tribe Called Quest will love what this emcee has to offer, as will anyone who appreciates quality content from the heart.
Killiam Shakespeare
Killiam Shakespeare
A constantly colorful and “changing pattern or sequence of objects or elements” defines the essence of a Kaleidoscope, which in comparison describes the dynamic and critically-acclaimed band, Killiam Shakespeare. Led by music duo Steve Mckie (drummer/producer) and Corey Bernhard (keys/producer), the band is comprised of a unique collective of diverse musicians (electric guitar Simon Martinez and Anthony DeCarlo, electric bass Dwayne Moore and Dre Pinckney, and Aaron Draper on percussion), that formed a creative element musically fused with the various genres they are influenced by, such as jazz, funk, hip-hop, R&B and soul. The name “Killiam Shakespeare” is derived from two perspectives: “Killiam” an inventive word coined by Mckie and Bernhard, as an expression or urban vernacular to forcefully impact the airwaves musically, by “slaying it”. The second perspective, “Shakespeare” is from their intellectual influence by the historic playwright, William Shakespeare from his famous quote from “Romeo & Juliet” Go wisely and slowly. Those who rush stumble and fall.

Mckie and Bernhard began their musical bond as band members for Grammy award-winning singer, Bilal, during his 2010 tour. The two friendship developed professionally when forming Killiam Shakespeare years later. Their musical prowess, passion, and ingenious sense of melodic authenticity is what crafted the band’s sound for what they’re known for today. After performing in major festivals and venues throughout the region, the band became one of the newest recording artist on revered label, Ropeadope Records. In 2015, Killiam released their highly anticipated self-entitled debut album that featured special guests: Adam Blackstone, Jennah Bell, Ebony Joi, Noel Scales, Louis Fouche, Dwayne Wright, Wayne Moore, Chris Turner, and Dayne Jordan. The album was valued by many in the industry including members of the press, such as writer Ari Sadowitz (Huffington Post) who states, “Rarely does one hear a debut album so seasoned, so balanced.” As a follow-up in December 2015, the band released “A Killiam Shakespeare Christmas”, an EP of classic Christmas songs that featured special guests: Chris Turner, Ebony Joi, Alisa Joy, James Poyser, Lauren Talese, and Shey Mckie.
Killiam Shakespeare’s latest offering “Killiam Season 1: The Mixtape Series”, featuring Grammy award-winning producer and artist DJ Jazzy Jeff, is produced and arranged by both Mckie and Bernhard. Killiam Shakespeare considers this project as a representation of their artistry as a musical unit. The title itself, is a self-proclaimed notion, where according to McKie, “Killiam Season means that we're finally in a space of our own...and with the overall balance of this project we created, we felt good about our chances in having the opportunity to work with living legend DJ Jazzy Jeff!”
“Killiam Season 1” features special guests: Freeway, Aaron Camper, Lana Knight, EST, Noel Scales, Val Strasser, and Corey Wise. The mixtape is currently available digitally everywhere on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Tidal, Bandcamp, and Soundcloud.
Animus Rexx
Animus Rexx
Animus Rexx is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist and vocalist James Casey whose talents may be attributed to his upbringing in a musical family, education from peers at Berklee College of Music, and experience with an eclectic array of bands including Trey Anastasio Band, 6Figures, and Lettuce. The group is made up of standout musicians in their own right: Yuki Hirano (keys), Randy Runyon (guitar), Reuben Cainer (bass), and Justin Tyson (drums). While each brings a unique style to anything he plays, the synergy among the members was the impetus for Animus. Put them all together onstage or in the studio and the results are explosive. Casey - whose own musical influences span across genres - calls the band a mix of "soul, rock, electro, and blues in a blender...with hot sauce...and bourbon."
