Nick Africano
Nick Africano
"A son of the moon. A butterfly bull. Nick Africano wears many hats (including one supporting the Chicago Cubs). A songwriter, poet, multi-intrumentalist, band-leader, solo performer, producer, and experimenter with watercolors. Born in Central Illinois, he now lives in Brooklyn, NY.

His style defies the confines of genre, combining the best of folk, storytelling, soul, and rock and roll. Lyrics often softly spoken, or soulfully crooned. At once powerful and subtle. His live performances are captivating and spontaneous, moving between acoustic guitar, resonator guitar, and piano.

A relentless performer, Africano has toured the US and EU extensively, and performed with artists such as Pokey Lafarge, Jeffrey Foucault, Sonya Kitchell, Misty Boyce, Will Hogue, Liam Finn, and others.

Over the past years he has recorded 3 independently produced LPs including I’ve Ever Desired (2008) The Butterfly Bull (2012) and his latest record, If Timing Were Of Different Course And Fire (2014) recorded at Galuminum Foil Studio in Brooklyn, NY.

In 2012 Africano’s songs were included in the film, Four Corners Road, which was featured in the Manhattan Film Festival and the Hoboken Film Festival. In 2015 his song, “Forever,” was included in the motion picutre SOUTHBOUND.

In 2013 Africano worked as Musical Director for Les Foules’ production of William Shakespeare’s Cymbeline in London, England. where he also made his acting debut.

Nick’s work as a producer most recently includes the album Way Back Home (2014) by Sara Syms (Nashville, TN)

Nick is currently working on a collection of new songs, a new live album, a collection of watercolor stationary, a children’s book, and a documentary he can’t tell you about! Finally, Nick believes that drinking sherry makes you live longer."

Benyaro -- the indie roots project of seclusive Jackson Hole, WY musician who's worked with such artists as Gary Clark Jr., Brett Dennen and Shovels & Rope -- recently announced the release of his third original full-length album, One Step Ahead of Your Past. Produced with Danny Kadar (The Avett Brothers, My Morning Jacket) and recorded at the legendary Echo Mountain Recording and Ben Musser’s home studio in Wyoming, One Step Ahead of Your Past is “a deeply personal collection of tunes from a period in which I became a husband and a father," with songs that explore the profound, vibrant, and mundane with humility and humor.

Multi-instrumentalist Musser composed the thirteen punk-Americana tracks that comprise the record. For the first time, his longtime tour mate, upright bassist Leif Routman, joins on the recording. Additional guest musicians include Jacob Rodriguez (Michael Bublé) on tenor and baritone saxophone, and NYC’s Brian Geltner (Johnny Society) on drums.

Alfonso Velez
After Alfonso Velez performed some impromptu songs at The Spotted Pig some weeks back, most of the music and film industry crowd wondered how he had yet to be known by the masses. Whatever the reason for his relative obscurity, it's destined to be short-lived as audiences have rapidly grown at his weekly residency in the West Village, where well known artists have been seen joining in to play with him. Velez who has remained a closely guarded secret by Sunday night music seeking New Yorkers, is at a crossroads.
