Chase The Jaguar
Chase The Jaguar
Curtis J is an American musician, songwriter, and social activist. He initially garnered acclaim as the fiery guitarist in the band Kentucky Knife Fight before migrating to New York City to form his own group. After multiple successful US and European tours with the likes of Murder by Death, Old 97's, and Rev. Horton Heat, he wasted no time in finding his singular style and voice. With allusions to David Bowie, Harry Nilsson, and St. Vincent, Curtis J is a student of songwriters poised to become an instructor.
His new group performs songs that are engaging, communal and carries the mantra "party with a purpose." This idea gave birth to their name: the Curtis J Social. The "Social" aspect does not simply characterized his aggressively friendly demur, but emphasizes his desire to bring people together through sonic events and social advocacy.
His music emotes literate and deeply introspective lyrics while still managing to deliver it all with groove music foundations. Expect layered compositions showcasing his exceptional guitar and vocal prowess akin to My Morning Jacket and "Live at Sin-e" era Jeff Buckley.
Eleven Magazine says his "virtuosity on guitar has given the MidWest scene a lot to work with and his departure for the East Coast has left a large hole for some other hotshot(s) to fill." More Joni than Springsteen, more David Byrne than Cobain, Curtis J mixes the genuine emotionality of deep songwriting with enough rock and roll bravado throughout to keep you guessing on what he's been listening to.

"Originally from the UK but now based in Brooklyn, GRØVVES is the moniker used by
British producer and writer Lee Groves. With an extensive background and history in a
huge array of organic / electronic music, his output is firmly focused on dark, rhythmic,
disturbing and cinematic sounds. Reflecting changes in the world around us, the current
GRØVVES material is a collaboration with 12 different vocalists and features
many twisted sound manipulations, deep electronic beats and beautiful, unnatural vocal
The resulting sound is an epic, moving and often passive-aggressive journey that
encompasses small claustrophobic spaces to wide open plains, via a dystopian, post-
apocalytpic, neo-future nightclub for aliens."
