The New Tarot
The New Tarot
The New Tarot is an indie alternative rock band that was born out of the heat of the great cosmic explosion, and seemed to form itself around the spooky and sweet Walker sisters, Monika (vocals/guitar) and Karen (vocals/keyboard), and their dreams to combine Machines, Magick and Music grew with them. Soon enough, they had convinced four amazing musicians to join their cause; Chas Langston (celebrated British drummer), Beth Callen (coolest-ever lead guitarist, who doubles as Slash in Guns n'Roses Cover band), Dave Kahn (bassist who fronts his own prog-rock instrumental band "Treespeaker"), and David Banker (Trombonist who holds several degrees in music and recently served as our human sacrificial offering). Together, the band creates and experiments with human and universal archetypes through their music. Their stories are filled with equal parts chaos and harmony, loss and love, satire and empathy.
The New Tarot puts the "occult" in "cult following." Their fans are encouraged to become familiar with the ever-growing mythos of the band, as those in the know will often have the opportunity to engage in bizarre rituals alongside TNT, such as collective meowing, praising the four cardinal saints of pop music, and other elaborate ceremonies. The group recently headlined Brooklyn's Knitting Factory and have repeatedly brought the house down at other major NYC venues, such as Mercury Lounge, The Bowery Electric, Rockwood Music Hall, The Slipper Room, Le Poisson Rouge, Studio@Webster Hall, The legendary Bitter End... etc. The New Tarot has had major take off in just over a year's time. Their live performances, peculiar ceremony and undeniably catchy music has landed them on the frontpage of many high-profile music blogs, including NYLON music, Consequence of Sound and Indie Shuffle.
The Silk War
The Silk War
"The Silk War is an Alt-Rock collaboration between music engineer/producer James Mullen (Nine Inch Nails, Interpol, Radio 4) and Alexandra Blair. The Silk War is a 6-piece band including a lead vocalist who plays synth, a guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, drummer, and a violinist/acoustic guitarist. The Silk War’s major influences include The Cure, Amy Winehouse, Arcade Fire, and Radiohead. Alexandra’s raspy voice intertwined with poetic, soulful melodies pairs in a unique way with James’s cinematic orchestration in order to encapsulate the mood and energy of downtown New York City life. The Silk War has wrapped up the recording of their first album “Come Evening” which they plan to release in early 2018. The Silk War has headlined venues in downtown New York such as The Vinyl Room at Soho House NYC, The Ludlow House, Arlene’s Grocery, Mercury Lounge, and The Bowery Electric.

Meadowhawks
Meadowhawks
With a resounding roar as grand as the Hudson River Valley, Meadowhawks have come to bring Wilderness Rock to all creatures big and small. What is Wilderness Rock you ask? Just picture a landscape as remote as the high peaks of the Catskill Mountains engulfed in a storm of overdriven 12-string guitars, thundering drums and reverberant vocal harmonies.

Meadowhawks planted the seeds for this musical forest by combining their love for catchy indie/garage rock with jazz harmony. The result was their 2014 self-titled EP, featuring four sonically adventurous songs and earning the accolades of numerous critics. Music blog Neat Beet summed up the EP as “A four song offering that bursts with energy.”

Meadowhawks' creative momentum continued with the release of the 'Wild Suburbia' EP in 2016. Recorded in a converted church in Woodstock, NY, the songs on ‘Wild Suburbia’ reflect many troubling subjects on the minds of a generation of 20-somethings, ranging from Student Loan debt (“Social Network Apocalypse”) to a murky environmental future (“Black Horse”).

Their latest singles, ‘Thursday’ and ‘This Isolated Boy’, released in September 2017, are a two-song reflection on the thought of leaving their youth behind, and charging full-force into what lies ahead. With the addition of multi-instrumentalist and videographer Nick Cusworth to the band, the band has grown more fully into the Wilderness Rock sound, adding the flutter of flutes and the blare of a tenor saxophone to their rhythmic rock choruses.

With a passion for the great outdoors, as seen in their series of ‘Songs from the Wild’ videos, Meadowhawks channels the forces of mother nature into a sound that feels equally at home on a New York City stage as in the distant reaches of the Northeast countryside. Meadowhawks’ journey into the wilderness has only just begun, we hope you join us out in the wild.
